Year 2, Week 41
Cawdor & West Nairnshire CC, Cairn Duhie again, Palestine, Notice of Amendment (Planning) ...
A brief post this week as most of my week has been spent discussing the proposed budget, which will finally be published next week, and going to committee meetings which were not ward specific.
Cawdor & West Nairnshire Community Council
I attended a packed first meeting of the new council on Monday night. Stevie Webster was elected as chair and Lizzy Rose as secretary. Matters discussed included the river path, speeding through the village (again), and problems getting even vaguely decent broadband speeds. On the latter they are proposing to hold a special meeting about that so I will update you when I get a date and time.
Cairn Duhie windfarm
In my post on this last week I included the wrong map for the wind farm. The correct map is shown below.
Thanks again to Linda for keeping me straight on this.
Palestine
Quite a few residents have now written to me now pointing out that The Highland Council passed a motion backing Ukraine after the invasion by Russia and asking for a similar motion to be passed to condemn Israel’s prosecution of its Gaza war plan, and to call for an immediate ceasefire and the provision of massive humanitarian aid to the stricken people of Gaza.
I can tell you that the SNP group is currently discussing options on how we might proceed as a council and there is a motion being considered for the 14th March council meeting (the next available date) but the wording is yet to be agreed.
Notice of Amendment (Planning)
I’m not going to dwell on this as it’s not a ward issue but you may have seen in both the local and national press a series of stories about the fact that, at the instigation of myself and another councillor from Fort William, about half the members of the council have asked that a planning application for a Battery Electric Storage System in designated open space in Inverness be re-considered at full council.
This is now a live planning application so there’s legally not a great deal I can say about it but this story in the Press and Journal probably explains it best (if their web site allows you to read it).
Planning applications
No new applications have been logged since I last posted.
