The Proclamation
The reading of the proclamation at the war memorial went well yesterday and we had a good turn out to see this historic event being performed for the first time in seventy years. Ian David Macrae has posted some good photos on Nairn Rocks!! if you’re on Facebook.
That’s now it for formal events in Nairn until Her Majesty’s funeral but there will be a memorial service held in Nairn Old Parish Church on the afternoon of Sunday, 25th September open to all in our community, people of all faiths and none.
Battery energy storage facility at Househill
I don’t normally mention planning applications here as they usually only affect people in the immediate area but this one’s a “Major Application" in planning terms so I thought it might be of interest to more people.
The application number is 22/03638/FUL and it’s for “Construction and operation of a battery energy storage facility consisting of up to 50 containerised battery storage units, ancillary transformers and inverters, connection building, site office and store, fencing and landscaping” on land opposite Househill Courtyard on the Grantown Road.
New pylons
While we’re on the subject of electricity, SSEN Transmission has plans for a new 400kV transmission line between key existing transmission nodes at Beauly and Blackhillock, which is south of Keith, and on to Peterhead … so this will pass through our ward.
You can find a video about it here. Essentially it’s to provide capacity to send the electricity we’re producing in the Highlands from renewable sources south to the rest of the UK.
This is still in the early stages of discussion and in this round the nearest public consultation events are taking place from 2pm to 7pm on 20th September at Kingsmill Hotel, Culcabock Road, Inverness, IV12 3LP and on 21st September at Forres Town Hall, High St, Forres, IV36 1PB.
