Welcome to my newsletter. I’m standing as a candidate for the SNP in the Nairn & Cawdor ward on Highland Council this May and I’m intending to use this mailing list to tell you about me and what I want to achieve as your councillor. Then, if I’m elected, I will use it to keep you informed as to what’s going on, both on Highland Council and beyond, so I would encourage you to subscribe now using the option at the bottom of this post.
Like many people who stay in Nairn Beth and I are not originally from here, or even from Scotland. Before we moved here six years ago we lived in a village just outside Cambridge but our hearts were always in Scotland, ever since our first holiday together, in my elderly short wheelbase Land Rover. We kept coming back for our holidays year after year and eventually decided we would move here for good. Finding the right place took a long time, but we finally found it in Nairn and now we live here on the Montgomerie Drive estate.
Some of you will know us because you’ve met us when dog walking - always a good way to get to know people. When we came here we had two border collie x golden retrievers called Jack and Jessie but sadly we lost both of them in 2020 and now we have a black and white border collie called Skye and you’ll come across her, and us, in Kingsteps Quarry, or in the Culbin Forest, or on East Beach.
We both work from home and we have our our little company where we create maps and mapping software and also have a web site WalkLakes which is widely used by walkers visiting the Lake District. I also take quite a lot of photos, although not so many in these last two years.
Anyway, that’s enough for now. Next time I’ll talk a little about why I’m standing for election to Highland Council.
