IMFLDP
The Inner Moray Firth Local Development Plan continues to loom large and your four ward councillors met with representatives from local industry on Monday to discuss their concerns.
Meanwhile Nairn River Community Council have put a web page online to help you add your comments to the plan.
Motorhome car parking
Overnight short stay parking by motorhome users is being piloted in twelve Highland Council car parks for the summer/autumn season of 2022 and you can find details in their news release.
This has been the cause of some controversy in Nairn, both because of the issue that the car parks affected are on Common Good land and also that the space between bays is small and may be unsafe.
Your new ward councillors had no prior warning that this was occurring and we are asking officers for an update.
Nairn West & Suburban Community Council
I attended Monday night’s community council meeting which, as ever, covered a lot of ground including both of the issues above and also included a detailed presentation about a proposed housing development at Fort Bain on Sandown Farm Lane.
Street cleaning
I’ve had a report from a resident about the council failing to sweep the gutters in their street so that weeds are now growing there and I’m wondering if this is an isolated incident or whether it’s happening elsewhere in Nairn too so if your road is also not being swept do email me with details (and photos if possible).
Dates for your diary
A walkabout meeting in Queenspark, organised by Highland Council participation officer Catriona Sutherland is happening this Tuesday, 7th June from 11am to 1pm to get the views of residents on their thoughts and aspirations of living in the area. Meet at the car parking area at John Street flats (35-57).
A similar event is taking place in the Boath Park area on Tuesday, 14th June meeting at 11am at the grassed area on Househill Terrace opposite Camperdown Road.
Sadly I won’t be able to attend either of these as they clash with (yet more) training I need to do as a new councillor. Hopefully I will be able to attend future walkabouts.
