Beauly to Peterhead 400kV pylons
As part of a project to update the National Grid in Scotland to give it the capacity to export the ever increasing amount of renewable electricity we are generating SSEN are proposing to put in new 400kV pylons all the way from Beauly to Peterhead via substations at Blackhillock (south of Keith) and New Deer ( a community even further east) and this will go through our ward.
The map of proposed routes through are ward is here and you can see a screen shot below which, regrettably, is not very clear but in essence the region now being considered is south of Cawdor on the north edge of Dava and going very close to Ferness, probably skirting it to the south.
The project web site can be found here.
The phase 2 consultation is underway and is coming to Forres Town Hall on 25th April and Kingsmill Hotel in Inverness on 26th April, from 2-7pm in both cases. We did ask that it should also come to Nairn but they turned this down. There will also be a virtual consultation however.
The Big Cawdor Picnic
To celebrate the King’s Coronation Cawdor are holding a picnic in the Old School Playground on the day after the event.
The poster is available to download here for you to print if you have somewhere suitable to display it.
I’m not aware of any other events around the ward but if you’re holding one and want me to publicise it here then do get in touch.
