Local Plan Plan
After much work by the team behind it and as a result of many consultation sessions with the communities in Nairnshire the draft Local Place Plan has now been published for public consultation. Well done to all concerned in creating it.
The Plan presents what local people have communicated as their priorities for the future use of Nairnshire's physical assets, land and buildings, and is nearly ready to be submitted to the Highland Council for registration.
You can find it online at https://ournairnshire.org/ and I would encourage you to take a read of it and leave your feedback before the 19th August.
There’s also a PDF version here if you find that format easier (and it’s also suitable for printing). Paper copies can also be obtained at Nairn Library, from Nairn Community Arts Centre, and rural community hubs in Cawdor, Auldearn, and Fornighty.
Marine Road
Sadly the saga of the missing double yellow lines in Marine Road continues. After I last wrote about it we did get a date agreed to paint the lines. They started, and then stopped because it was too dangerous with too many cars (allegedly avoiding the queues on the A96) speeding down there.
They resumed on Tuesday, with traffic control in place, but only succeeded in doing part of it. The section east of Royal Marine Apartments, i.e. the road alongside the Links, has still not been painted and we still have cones in place.
I'm told this was due to technical difficulties and the painting will be concluded on 10th August, so before the Highland Games, but only barely.
