New bin regime
By now you should have your new bins and, as they make the last collections in the bins’ old use, the operatives are placing stickers on the existing bins so you know what to put in each bin from now on. You will find details of what’s been collected when in the envelope in the new bin and it looks like the new collection regime begins at the start of June.
I am aware that some people have had some issues with the bins and your first port of call if you have questions should be recycle@highland.gov.uk but I am available if you need more help and in that regard I am already arranging an officer site visit to Fishertown next week where there do seem to be some issues with bin storage, so if you also have concerns in that area do let me know.
Nairn Community and Arts Centre
This week your ward members had a very useful and informative meeting with the directors of the charity which runs the centre to discuss their future financing plans.
Arising from that I thought I should mention that they have now launched a monthly 50/50 prize draw. Enter it and be in with a chance to win half of the total money raised each month. The draw is made during the third week of the month. All money must be paid by 1st of the month for that month’s draw so if you want to be in with a chance to win in June you need to enter before next Saturday.
Your Place Highland
What is good about your Highland community and what could be done differently? The Highland Council has been undertaking a major survey that encourages people to describe their experiences of living, working, visiting and investing in Highland to help plan for its future.
Their Highland Place Standard tool is designed to enable conversations and gather feedback on what makes for a good place to live, work, play, and visit. The information is aimed at shaping future plans, including the Council’s next Local Development Plan, and seeks feedback under four main themes: Movement, Spaces, Resources, Civic, and Stewardship. It aims to highlight what needs to be protected, changed, or improved, so we have what is needed for the future.
The Highland Place Standard survey is open until the end of May, so next Friday, if you want to take part. My apologies for not highlighting this sooner.
