Year 3, Week 33
Graffiti, bin collections, Auldearn Burn bridge, and a Happy Christmas to you all ...
Graffiti
I had a report last week that yet again we have offensive graffiti on the arch of the railway bridge where it crosses the River Nairn. Hopefully officers will be removing it soon if they haven’t already but do let the council know if you see any more around.
I thought we had this under control after the police made an arrest so I’m disappointed that it’s back again.
Bin collections
Here’s the collections days over the festive period. Note the arrangements for Christmas Day collections in particular which is being collected tomorrow. My apologies, if I’d have spotted this earlier it would have been in my last post.
Wednesday, 25th December collections will be done on Saturday, 21st December
Thursday, 26th December collections operating as normal
Wednesday, 1st January collections will be done on Saturday, 28th December
Thursday, 2nd January collections will be done on Saturday, 4th January
If your bin is not emptied on the dates as detailed above, please leave it out and it will be collected as soon as possible.
All Recycling Centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day and the day after that.
Auldearn Burn bridge
The U2297 near Drumduan Mill on the opposite side of the A96 to Auldearn (see map here) remains closed for public safety reasons at the Auldearn Burn bridge.
The parapet was damaged in September which is when the bridge was first closed but inspection revealed that in addition to that there are significant voids and cracks on the underside of the bridge, as well as the masonry on the arch becoming deformed and so the structure is in need of repair.
Officers have now had quotes from several contractors for repairs but they were too high so they’ve gone out to tender again and it looks like it will now be well be into the new year before repairs commence.

Happy Christmas
I hand posted the last of our Christmas cards to neighbours today so here’s the cover of my favourite one this year for everyone who didn’t get a card from us. It’s from Epilepsy Scotland, who always provide our cards.
I hope that you have the sort of Christmas you enjoy and let’s hope that 2025 brings us all some good news.
