It being July we are officially in recess so no council meetings (although they still seem to be happening!) and I don’t normally post to my blog but casework continues and some issues have also come up which deserve a brief update for everyone.
That water leak
I’ve posted about this back in May but sadly the water leak in the passage besides R&R Urquhart is still ongoing and it blew up on Facebook this week. I have chased Scottish Water again and I’m told that the bank building landlord who owns the pipe has (finally!) got a quote for the work and agreement from the CoOp, who owns the path, that it can be dug up so hopefully we will see this resolved in the next few weeks.
Marine Road double yellow lines
Again this has blown up on Facebook this week. I am acutely aware on the issue having had many contacts from concerned residents and in mid June I posted that the lines would hopefully be painted “in the next two weeks”. Sadly that’s not happened so I’m now escalating it up through the council’s management team to try to find someone with enough weight who’s prepared to take ownership of this and get it resolved.
Nairn Community Food Growing Survey
If you need proof that Highland Council moves slowly in August two years ago we agreed at Area Committee to explore options to create some sort of community growing scheme on the Sandown land between the allotments and the A96 and this is finally coming to pass with a survey open until 2nd August.
Lots more details, and a link to the survey, here on the council’s web site.
