About me
I’m your SNP councillor for the Nairn & Cawdor ward on Highland Council. You can read a little bit about me here in my first ever blog post back in 2022 and also, in my second, why I thought I could be as good councillor for the ward. It seems quite a lot of you thought so too as I was elected in May 2022 with the most votes of any candidate.
As well as representing the ward I sit on various committees, which you can find listed here, concerned with issues all around Highland, the most significant of which is probably the South Planning Applications Committee, which I chair. I also sit on a range of sub-committees and I’m chair of the board of the Highland Opportunity (Investments) Ltd on behalf of the council.
About this blog
One of the things that struck me even before I thought about standing for election was that our previous local councillors didn’t tell us what they were up to. So this blog exists because I promised as part of my election campaign to keep residents of the ward informed as to what was going on at Highland Council. I’ve done that with posts pretty much every week since I was elected.
